"LILIES & LACE"  30X40 ~ Available through McBride Gallery

Artist Statement;

What a vision of nature is to me is at the very heart of the word nature. That means going outside and being fully immersed in the land. To drink the wild air and breathe in a full array of the senses. In this painting, “Lilies & Lace”, the pond itself is a metaphor for how I interact with my living world. The far bank is ablaze in an opalescent spectrum of color in pure and shimmering sunlight, whilst the cool, darker depths of the water support a plethora of underwater creatures, creating a balance between the two. The reflected and refracted light on the surface of the pond is dotted with waterlilies, leading us back into the realm which marries the light and the dark. reminding us, that despite the frailty of this delicate balance, they choose to bloom. The full spectrum of color in the piece correlates to the human chakra system, demonstrating the importance for harmony and balance between all components.  I adore the statement “Bloom where you are planted.” Hopefully, a reminder to protect the delicate and frail ecosystem we are given.
